That was truly spectacular. This is the Jonathan Kent that I always picture Clark as having - kind, reasonable, giving, loving, etc. Not the one Al & Miles turned him into on the show - close-minded, bigoted, pedantic, etc. I can so see the possibilities if Jonathan had been more like this.
I also loved it from the 2nd person POV too. Not too many stories are done that way, but it worked really well.
Your characterization of Lex was also beautifully done. Your story brought him so clearly into my mind, I could see his expressions and mannerisms.
A wonderful fic all the way around.

It's kinda funny; Jonathan is, strictly speaking, so OOC in this story. But it's because of it that I think he's closer to the original Pa Kent figure; the sort of man who secretly adopts an alien and raises him into this incredible, mature, compassionate hero. I sort of think the second person comes from that kind of, "Well, if I were Pa Kent, I'd totally do it like this" attitude, too. It really is addressing the reader/author, putting them in the shoes of the character.
It's kinda dodgy writing, and I think it only works because so many people find the original SV characterisation... unsatisfactory.
