Hey,I'm so curious about the what happend on the other side. How Kal persuaded Bruce so that he said what he said at the end?
Why not writing about that? That must be fantastic too!Lucy (3rd February, 2009 @ 4:24 am)
Marvellous!
It's so interesting when CK found himself on other's bed in others room! He's really cute!
I feel very warm that they become ovon and share jachnarr(well I learn some Kryptonian words! You are creative!
)
CK fall in love with Bruce again even when he forget their relation! He just can't resist Bruce's attraction WHENEVER AND WHEREVER THEY ARE!That's nice!
GOOD JOB!I love it!BradyGirl (26th December, 2007 @ 10:07 pm)
Wow, good stuff!

I love the description of how Clark wakes up as the sun kisses him awake!
Little nervous for Clark when you realize that his Bruce is a pretty cold fish, but it was probably the same way in the AU, so he has some hope. Clark's disappointment at his Bruce always rebuffing him and his own loneliness is so sad. *sniffles* I'm glad he has a chance for some happiness in the future, perhaps.
Alis' Reply:
Yeah, Bruce is a pretty cold fish in both universes here but ultimately he adores Clark, he's just not very good at expressing it. But Clark's a smartie and will figure it out and everyone will live HAPPILY EVER AFTER because me not ending a story with feelgood mush would be like Batman going out on patrol and forgetting his utility belt.Jen (24th December, 2007 @ 1:09 pm)
Aw! This was just delightful! So romantic and chock-full of beautiful Kryptonian touches (I love the reverse-blush! How awesome!)
He tried not to think about how… happy the photo-Clark looked.
This might be the moment I fell in love with this story. It might have been earlier, though.

The words came out oddly strained, and Clark got the impression Wayne wasn’t used to saying them. He wouldn’t normally have to, Clark realised. Vocal declarations of affection were a human tradition; transitory and prone to deception. Kryptonians traditionally relied on more tangible, empirical evidence of love; objects like the mzhao-nvao and—
Again, the little bits of Kryptonian culture and the Kryptonian take on marriage--I know we've talked about this a bit, but you illustrate it perfectly here, how a culture that's formal and cool on the surface with passion running underneath would be so perfectly suited for Bruce. I think Jor-El and Lara would have liked him very much, actually.
In one room he found a holographic recording of Wayne sleeping; just an endlessly repeating loop of the man’s face, about a minute of peace followed by a brilliant, secret smile.
This is such a beautiful image, I could imagine it almost endlessly myself.
After interests, Bruce proceeded to detail a highly intricate plan of attack in the event that Clark should want to seduce his alternate self upon returning home. And then another in the event Kal might like to try. And then two more, in case the target of choice was to be Batman (it was Bruce’s opinion that the Clark/Batman strategy would be the most challenging, and had taken the longest to devise).
Oh, damn, that's sexy. So perfectly Bruce, so methodical and systematic, so burning with intensity and need. Just lovely.
And the last line almost made me cry. This was such a beautiful story! I'm so happy you picked it up and I love what you did with it very, very much. Thank you!

You'd be right on that one.

*super sonic squeals* Oh, oh, thank you thank you thank youuuuuuuuuuu!! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
I am just the luckiest little fangirl in the world, yes, yes I am -this is my prompt, you see. Maaaan! sooo awesome! Kryptonian marriage makes so much sense! and Bruce feels so comfortable in it, because it's different, and logical, and a bond, of course, a bond would make things so much easier, and they just worked soooo well together.
I cannot make sense now. I'm a hormonal mess atm -probably more information than you wanted to know!- and this has made me so happy after a horrible day! Thank you! thank you so much!
I should have saved the quotes as I read, but let me go fish them (and re-read, lalalaaa) LALALALAAAA! Back.
Because the sun was still half-asleep, too, and in these moments of fragile dawn he could imagine he was loved.
I love the idea of the sun being half asleep, and Clark clearing up his mind the way morning clears up. I just.. never thought of that and it's a wonderful detail.
“You— you’re Bruce Wayne!”
Concern deepened. “Yes, sometimes.”
I can't tell you just how much I laughed while I read. I laughed and aww'ed and wanted to hug them both. Woobies! secret woobies! perfectly functional and efficient woobies. And Bruce being Bruce Wayne sometimes, man, it cracked me up.
(Time travel?)
or simply so bizarre
(Reality TV?)
Only superhero fandom has moments where these two are plausible possibilities, I think. Who else can say 'I didn't mean to film porn, it was the aliens that made me do it!' but Clark? X) I love all of Clark's thought process, how he goes from absolute disbelief -a male???- to rationalizing his feelings and going for it. He's just put through the wringer, and he does so well! you rocked his POV really hard

Ahhh! that has to be my favorite part of the story, the Kryptonian rituals and background, and yessss, Kryptonian language! I bow to your Kryptonian language skills. I think you did a great job of using the cold scientific Krypton of some of the planet versions and made it more approachable and yet.. distinct and different, and it just adds to how well fit they seem to each other in this story.
They could talk about Tipler cylinders until the cows came home but they both knew no-one could actually build one.
Lol, I seiously yelled 'Science and slash, married for happiness!!' to the empty room at that. I think you did a wonderful job of the crazy prompt! I agree with Bruce and Clark, it's all highly theoretical, but you know what's fact? that this rules, that's fact. And that you rock. Yes. Muchly. Alternate dimensions are just as awesome as Time Travel in my book. Maybe more awesome. All is possible
He was dreadfully polite about everything — following Clark a half-step behind, not touching anything unless invited
(I'm sorry, I'm quotting half the story! meep! I love it, I can't help it!) Secretly woobie Bruce! I'm sure it hurt to revert to... not having an evon, not being familiar, not being.. welcome? ah, man. He's incredibly approachable and sensible through all of it, and I love him for that. You give awesome balanced Batman! yesssss.
“But your Bruce doesn’t hate you, Clark. He doesn’t know you. Heaven forbid I find myself giving anyone dating advice for the pursuit of alternate-mes…” and then he proceeded to do just that.
LOL! Oh man!!! I love your Batman so much! I can only squeal now, I think I'm reduced to that, but I love how they settle into this.. conspiracy conversation, and Bruce playing match maker for himself, that's just priceless.
Did this Batman now know Superman’s identity in the same way Clark now knew his? He couldn’t for the life of him think of a way to ask that wouldn’t have been awkward.
I want to know what happened in the other universe! ahhh! yet this is so satisfying, all I can do is thank you again, and smile and read until I have my happy fill. *grins* Thank you so much for sharing, Alis! *glomp*

this has made me so happy after a horrible day!
We aim to please.
I can't tell you just how much I laughed while I read.
Yeah, Bruce is being a bit of a smartass here.
you rocked his POV really hard
Phew; I'm always a bit nervous writing Clark because I don't think I've got as much of a handle on him as I do Bruce (or at least my particular Bruce). I'm glad he worked for you!
I think you did a great job of using the cold scientific Krypton of some of the planet versions and made it more approachable
I think in my head I'm not happy with the way Krypton is treated sometimes. It's like, yeah okay we've got this race of hyper-scientific aliens and they're, well, alien but that doesn't necessarily mean they have to be unloving or stilted. So I like thinking of the ways they might express affection (since both the immediate and extended family is obviously an important institution). And I like the idea that Bruce is more comfortable in that kind of a relationship than in a traditional human one. >![:]](1.0/emoticon_smile.png)
Lol, I seiously yelled 'Science and slash, married for happiness!!' to the empty room at that.
Heh, I spent much time pouring over Wikipedia before writing this, trying to think of how to make the science of it 'work'. Especially since this is set in the movieverse which is a bit more... staid in its science than the comics are.
I'm sure it hurt to revert to... not having an evon, not being familiar, not being.. welcome?
I'm actually not sure, to be honest! I'm half a mind to think he's freaking out and half a mind to think he's mostly just irritated that his plans for Boxing Day buttseks have been put back.
Bruce playing match maker for himself, that's just priceless.
He gave ti some serious thought there, believe me. Very thorough strategies; he's looking after his AU self's interests.
I want to know what happened in the other universe!
I'm not sure, to be honest. I think Clark probably shows up in the Batcave and explains what's gone on, and Bruce is all just like, "That makes sense." And they go about fixing things in much the same way. And meanwhile AU!Bruce realises he has great confidence in his (AU self's) choice of partners, and that this would be a beneficial option to pursue at a later date.
Anyway, glad you liked!

Bruce is giving Clark dating advices! This is soooo cute!Nix (23rd December, 2007 @ 12:14 am)
Alternate universe romances are always tricky, but I love how you handled this one! Watching Clark warm to Bruce was wonderful and heartbreaking at the same time, know that this wasn't his Bruce, in any sense of the word. Also, I was fascinated by the Kryptonian aspects of the relationship. World building is much fun. :-) And the ending was perfect--Kal back to being awkward and then Bruce reaching out. :-) :-)
Thank you for sharing!cavaleira (22nd December, 2007 @ 10:31 pm)
Fantastic!! I love all of the Kryptonian elements and traditions you have in here, and how they work to show the depth of Bruce and Clark's bond. I love your fics; you're so great at charaterization and this one was no exception.
Excellent job, I enjoyed reading this so much!
Alis' Reply:
The idea that Bruce relates more to Kryptonian romantic traditions than human ones, and that this is all fine with Clark (and greatly appealing to Kal) is one of my favourites.
I like the notion that they have this relationship that looks quite cold and professional -- from Bruce's side especially -- to outside observers, but they're really crazy in love with one another and both know it. I'm a soppy old romantic like that.

This was perfect!!
I loved Clark's awkwardness toward the alternate Bruce melting away as they worked together in the Fortress. Bravo!
